Patrick’s summer at Kiilto: “Here you immediately feel like you belong to the community”

Hi, I’m Patrick, a 16-year-old summer worker at Kiilto. I participated in the “Tutustu työelämään ja tienaa” training program in Turku, Finland for two weeks, and I wanted to share my experiences and learning process here at Kiilto.

If we start with the company culture at Kiilto, it’s very open, inclusive, warm, and as environmentally friendly as possible. The employees at Kiilto are very helpful and always ready to assist and guide you. All around the Kiilto factory, you can see how they are working to improve environmental sustainability and their goal of becoming carbon-neutral by 2028. It was impressive to see that the words they say about being environmentally friendly aren’t just empty promises – they are backed up by actions.

I have learned a lot during these two weeks. I’ve learned how to work better in a team, where everyone is considered and we stick together. I’ve also learned how cleaning products, soaps, and other items are made, and the most interesting part has been how these products end up on store shelves. I’ve worked on making display pallets, which has been fun because it shows how the products get to the store, and I’ve had the chance to meet new people as well.

What surprised me about Kiilto is how fun it has been. While working, you can chat with friends and still get some physical exercise. All in all, Kiilto has been an amazing summer job, and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. Here you immediately feel like you belong to the community, and it’s a pleasure to work.
