Matias Hamnström joined the Kiilto team in May 2016, initially as a summer production worker. Matias was studying logistics engineering at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (JAMK), and was able to do his thesis for Kiilto. Summer work in production provided a good basis for the thesis, which Matias completed in autumn 2016 while working as a rush helper.
A versatile and evolving career at Kiilto
After graduating in December 2016, Matias continued working in production on a fixed-term contract. Shortly afterwards, he was hired as a production development and quality engineer. In 2019, Matias took on a new challenge by applying for the position of logistics manager, where he started in spring 2020.
As logistics manager, Matias is currently responsible for warehouse and dispatch operations in Lempäälä and Vantaa, customer ordering operations, as well as cooperation with Kiilto's units in other countries. Over the years, the team has grown from 17 to 27 people, reflecting the increasing scope of responsibilities and importance of the activities.
A good atmosphere keeps you going
Matias emphasises that Kiilto invests in well-being at work and that the work community is close-knit and supportive. The variety of the work and the opportunities to develop one's skills have kept the interest alive. "The increased responsibilities have ensured that the challenges are never ending," says Matias with a smile.
Sports and family bring balance to everyday life
Originally from Lahti, Matias now lives in Tampere. Sport has always been a central part of his life, and today he enjoys running, cycling, swimming, basketball, padel and gym. The family includes two kindergarten-age daughters, with whom everyday life is full of energy and joy.
Work-life balance is particularly important to Matias. "Training gives me energy for work and it also works the other way round, after a good day at work I am motivated to train. Both give me the energy to play and have fun with my daughters," he says.
