Kiilto Hydrablock
Barrier

A two-component, solvent-free and viscous barrier against release of dangerous substances to the indoor air from building materials. Suitable also for capillary and diffusion moisture control.

Special features

  • solvent-free and tough, dry Hydrablock can be levelled or tiled
  • barrier against VOC and PAH compounds and radon
  • for capillary and diffusion moisture control
  • provides a very dense layer just with two coats, no need for priming
  • viscous, impregnates into porous substrates, correct consumption reached easily

Pot life

The mix warms up in the container fast, which shortens the pot life. Apply on the floor as soon as possible after mixing.

Storage

Can be stored in unopened containers, above 5°C, for 12 months.

Working time

approx. 30 min (20°C, poured on the floor)

Instructions for use

Suitable substrate: even, solid and clean concrete. Substrate's bond strength should be min. 1.5 MPa. Remove any materials that might impair adhesion, such as cement laitance, oil, wax or dust. Substrates moisture content max. 97% RH. Take into account hydrostatic pressure in structures. When levelling, tiling or coating Kiilto Hydrablock, take into account the shrinkage of the new concrete floor. Any possible restrictions on the products used, must also be considered.
When using Kiilto Hydrablock as primer, apply one layer (approx. 300 g/m² ) or 2–3 layers (with total consumption of 700 g/m² ) according to instructions of the coating system used. When using as barrier, apply 2–3 layers (with total consumption of 700 g/m² ).
Mix the components together in full containers. Mix slowly to avoid air in the mix. Pour the mix on the floor and even out with a rubber trowel. Roll over the entire area with a short haired roller to ensure even layer thickness. If needed, apply the second and the third layer in the same way. Working time is approx. 30 min (20°C). Drying time between layers is approx. 10–24 h (20°C). Wash the tools with acetone.
Mixed product generates substantial heat in the container. It is recommended to apply it on the floor as soon as possible after mixing, which will prevent excessive warming. Do not leave a container containing the product near flammable materials.
The temperature and humidity of materials and of the air affect the hardening process. Suitable application temperature is 10–25°C (min. 5°C, also for the first 24 hours). The substrate temperature should be well above the dew point (for the first 24 hours). The product reaches its final properties within a week (20°C.)
Floor treated with Kiilto Hydrablock should be coated within 24 hours after the last application. In case Kiilto Hydrablock will not be coated right after the drying time, strew sand on the final layer right after the application to ensure proper adhesion. (Approx. 0.5–1.5 mm, approx. 2kg/m²). Carefully vacuum off anyloose sand before coating or levelling.
