Application

Very flexible tiling adhesive designed for fixing large ceramic tiles and stones, which are not moisture sensitive, on traditional aggregate, painted and clinker floors as well as gypsum and fibre cement boards. When tiling on a board subfloor, ensure that it is rigid enough. Flexible Kiilto Pro XL Fix provides a good bond between the tiles and adhesive. The product produces almost no dust during the mixing process. Suitable to be used in combination with Kiilto waterproofing membranes. Suitable for walls and floors for interior and exterior use, but not for applications that are constantly under water (e.g., swimming pools).

The surfaces to be tiled must be clean, solid and free from dust. Remove water-soluble smoothing and levelling compounds. Absorbent surfaces must be primed with Kiilto Pro Start Primer or Kiilto Primer One 1:4 diluted to water. Dense and smooth surfaces must be primed with Kiilto Pro Fix Primer. Boards are primed with undiluted Kiilto Pro Start Primer. Turn off floor heating approx. 24 hours prior to tiling and can be turned back on one week after grouting. When tiling on painted surface and clinker (only interior areas) ensure that the material is properly adhered to its substrate. Wax, grease and dirt must be removed from the surface to be tiled with Kiilto Pro Prepaint cleaner and rinsed thoroughly. After the surface has dried, sand it and remove the sanding dust.

Instructions for use

Strew powder slowly while stirring in cool, clean water until a smooth, easy-spreadable mass is formed. Let the mix mature for approx. 5 min. and then remix gently once. Apply the adhesive to the surface by pressing firmly and comb with a notched applicator an area that can be tiled within 10–15 minutes.

Press the tiles onto the fresh mass properly. As a guide, to ensure adequate adhesion, the detached tile must be completely covered with adhesive (80–90 %) on the adhesive surface. When tiling outdoors, the adhesive surface must be completely covered with tile adhesive, and outdoors the adhesive must be applied to both the tile and the base. To make sure that you get adequate coverage under the tiles, the trowel should be chosen according to the tile size, tile material and the tiling surface. Remove fresh stains with water and a damp cloth. Dried mortar can only be removed by mechanical means.

Allows loading approx. 24 hours after tiling in normal room temperature. Jointing can be carried out with Kiilto Pro Tile grout or Kiilto Pro Floor Tile grout after 24 hours of laying the tiles at the earliest; on non-absorbent surfaces no earlier than after approx. 48 hours. Allow the tiling to dry for a week before proceeding to use as normal. Low temperature and high air humidity will retard the curing and drying process.

Edges of panel and board walls, joints between wall and floor tiling and other movement joints should be jointed with Kiilto Pro Sanitary Silicone or Kiilto Pro Silicone E Sanitary silicone. Kiilto Pro Masa adhesive and sealing compound is recommended for expansion joints in natural stone.

Suitable for repairing minor (5 mm) unevenness in the substrate before tiling.

Kiilto wall and floor levelling compounds are best suited for repairing unevenness of several millimeters. When installing large tiles, the mortar drying time is longer.
