The substrate must be dry, firm, even and free from dust and adhesion-impairing substances. Generally, levelling of concrete substrates with a suitable low-alkaline levelling compound from Kiilto is recommended.
Note! When bonding LVT, PVC-free, rubber coverings, and for areas with castor wheel traffic, the substrate should have a surface tensile strength > 1.0 MPa. Always follow the flooring manufacturer’s recommended installation instructions.
Working method for absorbent substrates:
- Apply adhesive with a suitable notched trowel (wall roller).
- Install the covering after a short airing time and within half the working time for wet bonding.
- Check to ensure good wetting of the covering back is achieved
- Press/rub the covering firmly.
Working method non-absorbent substrates:
- Apply adhesive with a fine-toothed trowel, do not use more adhesive than is needed to wet the back of the covering
- Install the covering when the adhesive has reached the working time late wet bonding.
- Check to ensure good wetting of the covering back is achieved
- Press/rub the covering firmly in place.
Double drop method can also be useful on non-absorbent substrates.
Note! Floor coverings LVT, rubber, linoleum and textile with structured backing should always be installed in wet adhesive. For high temperatures due to sunlight or heavy mechanical load, Kiilto Slim 2-component polyurethane adhesive is recommended.
