Under its REACH regulation on chemical safety, the European Union has imposed a restriction on diisocyanates. Under the restriction, employers must ensure that users of diisocyanates have undergone training in the safe use of these substances. The regulation applies to products for professional and industrial use containing more than 0.1% diisocyanate by weight.
To whom does the training requirement apply?
The training requirement applies to employees and self-employed persons who handle diisocyanate as it is, as a constituent of other substances, or in mixtures for industrial and professional use. The requirement also applies to persons who supervise such tasks.
