Mixing: Kiilto Pro Floor Tile grout is poured gradually into cold, clean water using an electric stirrer. Let dissolve in water for 1–2 minutes and re-stir once again. The mix must be used within 20–30 minutes. Grouting: Spread the mortar with a rubber trowel diagonally over the joints by filling and strongly pressing the joints with mortar. Let dry until the mortar no longer sticks to fingers (usually for 15–30 min.) and then clean with a damp sponge. The drying time depends on the tile, substrate, joint dimensions and prevailing conditions. Too early cleaning or excess water may cause discolouring of joints. Dispose of dirty washing water regularly and replace with clean water to get more even joints and to minimise limescale. After the mortar has dried, clean the surface with a dry cloth or cotton waste. Moisten the joints with clean water (for example, by spraying) for 1–3 times during the first 24 hours to allow sufficient joint firmness. For seaming corners and inlets use Kiilto Saniteettisilikoni. Note! It is recommended that unglazed tiles are moistened before grouting. When installing porous tiles, test beforehand to see how the mortar washes off from the tile surface. Avoid colours that differ greatly from the colour of the tiling. When grouting soap rock or other porous materials, carefully follow the tile manufacturer's instructions. Not suitable for areas that are permanently under water (for example, swimming pools).
Kiilto Pro Floor Tile grout is a cementitious product. Products that contain cement tend to produce water-based salts (so-called efflorescence) due to a chemical reaction. In certain circumstances, the salts may migrate to the surface of the product, making the colour lighter. Washing too soon after grouting, or excessive use of water when washing, increases the risk of efflorescence formation. Efflorescence is a natural phenomenon that cannot be fully prevented. However, it is a purely cosmetic issue and does not affect the product's performance.
Acidic cleaners may cause a deterioration in the cement used as a binder in tile grouts. When using acidic cleaners, follow up with an alkali cleaner to neutralise the surface.
Due to the manufacturing techniques of colour guides, a slight difference may occur between the colour in the guide and the finished joint. When grouting a room, make sure that all of your tile grout packages have the same batch number to ensure colour consistency.
