Refer to both national and parquet manufacturer’s instructions on conditions during installation and use.
Suitable substrates are steel-trowelled concrete, board and wooden floor. Substrate must be dry, solid, smooth and free from dust and other materials that might impair adhesion. Remove the cement skin by sanding and vacuuming the dust prior to gluing. The concrete surface can be smoothed with a suitable Kiilto levelling compound, if needed. Adhesive strength in tension of concrete and levelling compound must be 1.5 N/mm² at the minimum. If gluing on board, we recommend using min. 9 mm plywood board or similar. Follow also the parquet manufacturer's instructions and any applicable national regulations (in Finland SisäRYL 2013). Elastic adhesive reduces stress on the substrate caused by moisture movement in wood, but it enables dimensional variation.
Carry out work at normal room temperature and humidity. Allow parquet boards and adhesive to acclimatise to the normal room temperature and humidity. Apply the adhesive evenly with a serrated trowel to an area that can be covered with parquet in approx. 30 minutes. Press the parquet firmly onto the substrate. Check that the back of the parquet is fully covered with adhesive. No tongue-and-groove gluing. Leave a clearance of 10–15 mm between solid structures, e.g., wall and parquet. Sanding and lacquering recommended not earlier than 24–48 hours after installing depending on prevailing conditions. Fresh adhesive stains can be removed with white spirit. Hardened adhesive can only be removed by mechanical means.
