Our research, development and innovation (RDI) unit in Turku is looking for an

RDI Manager

for the Professional Hygiene and Consumer Goods business areas

 

The position  

As RDI manager, your main tasks will be the development and product life-cycle management of chemical products classified as class I or class II medical devices. Among these tasks are the innovation of new products and development of existing product formulations, instructions and RDI methods focusing on quality, safety, the environment and customer needs. You will ensure that our MD-classified products comply with the applicable legislation and will compile and maintain documentation accordingly.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and support supply chain and sales and solution management teams in technical and regulatory matters.  Your role also involves yworking in close collaboration internationally and applying best practices with the group’s global RDI and regulatory professionals in other locations. You will lead a team of six laboratory technicians.

The position of RDI manager gives you the opportunity to influence the future of our product range. This involves further increasing its effectiveness and environmental friendliness, as you will participate in developing the whole value chain, from the procurement of raw materials to delivery to the end customer.

You will work in an enthusiastic and motivated RDI unit of around 35 people within a growing international company. Our RDI personnel are analytical and inventive, and you will share and apply these qualities. We have received positive feedback from our employees in our annual work climate surveys, earning the highest rating for two consecutive years.

You will be working in Turku and will report to the RDI Director.

 

Qualifications, skills and experience  

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent in chemistry, biochemistry or a related area
  • Several years of experience in chemical development
  • Ability to think innovatively and develop ideas into practical applications
  • Project management skills
  • Good collaboration skills
  • Experience in leading a team in a supervisory role is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the ISO9001 and ISO13485 quality systems is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of legislation related to medical devices is considered an asset
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Finnish
