Disinfecting a secretion stain, one-step method

Secretion stains cause a risk of infection which is why they need to be removed immediately.

Thorough hygienic practices are part of patient safety.


  1. Wear disposable gloves.
  2. Pour disinfectant on the secretion stain, making sure to use enough to cover it completely.
  3. Wipe the area clean with a disposable/paper towel and place the used towel in a bin bag.
  4. Remove the gloves and place them in a bin bag. Disinfect your hands.
