Materials
Kiilto Saniteettisilikoni is a one-component neutral silicone sealant. Complies with the requirements of EN 15651:-3:2012 standard. Not suitable for aquariums or natural stone like marble. For installing a mirror and toilet seat, we recommend Kiiltofix Masa. When installing small tiles and higher thermal resistance is needed (+150 °C), you can use grey silicone.

recommendation: optimal temperature of room, sealant and joint is +18–20 °C, however within the range of +5–40 °C.
The surface to be jointed must be dry, free from dust and grease. Solid foam plastic profile can be used as joint bottom filler.
Unscrew the cap from the extrusion tip. Cut open the cone at the front end of the cartridge. Screw the extrusion tip in place and cut it to the desired size. Press silicone to the joint and smooth it immediately by using a trowel or fingertip moistened with clean water. Leave the extrusion tip in place and close the cartridge with the cap properly after use. To facilitate cleaning, apply, for example, masking tape on both sides of the joint. Remember to remove the tape right after application.
When renewing silicone joints, the old silicone must be removed. In addition, remove mould spots, if any, with e.g. Kiilto Kodin Klorite according to instructions.
The prevailing conditions, such as air temperature, temperature of the silicone and the joint, substrate’s material and air humidity as well as the amount of silicone applied have a strong impact on the skin time and vulcanization.
Some paints, detergent and solvents contain chemicals that may discolour silicone, either in direct contact with the silicone or when released in the air. Also similar compounds may be released from some wood types (including heat-treated radiata pine) and acetoxy silicones (so called acetic silicones). Some plastics and rubbers contain plasticizers that may also react with the silicone. If needed, we recommend preliminary tests prior to use. If using ceramic tile paints, use acetic Kiilto Pro Silicone.
Silicone joint's life-span is limited. It depends on the room’s utilization rate, cleaning and ventilation. Check the condition of joints in wet rooms regularly and replace with new, at least every 5 years.
Kiilto Saniteettisilikoni adheres well on different materials (e.g. ceramic tiles, glass, furniture materials). However, preliminary adhesion tests are recommended to ensure proper adhesion. For transparent plastics (PC, PMMA) we recommend clear silicone.
When sealing joints in one location, ensure that all silicone cartridges have the same batch number.
The colours of Saniteettisilikoni have been toned in neutral light to match the colours of Kiilto Saumalaasti. Since the light in different light sources may vary, the colour of the silicone may slightly vary depending on lightning of the room.
