Application

Kiilto Pro Fix is a non-sagging, very durable water- and frost resistant cementitious adhesive for setting wall and floor tiles, clinker tiles, small, middle-sized and large ceramic tiles and artificial and natural stones ceramic tiles and stones, which are not moisture-sensitive. Formats up to 60 x 60 cm on stable substrates inside whilst outside up to 30 x 30 cm formats. Suitable for vinyl, paint, tile, clinker and common aggregate surfaces as well as on surfaces treated with Kiilto Fibergum waterproofing membrane or Kiilto Pro Moisture Proof moisture barrier, e.g., gypsum boards and for use with underfloor heating. For interior and exterior use. Not suitable for areas permanently under water (e.g., swimming pools).

The surfaces to be tiled must be clean and free from dust. Remove water-soluble smoothing and leveling compounds. Dry and absorbent surfaces must be moistened with water or primed with thinned Kiilto Start Primer. Board surfaces are treated with unthinned Start Primer. Turn off floor heating approx. 24 hours prior to tiling. When tiling on vinyl, paint, tile and clinker substrates:
- ensure that the surface is solid and strong for tiling
- ensure that the surface to be tiled adheres properly to its own substrate
- remove wax, grease and dirt from the surface with Kiilto Maalarinpesu cleaner and rinse well. After the surface has dried, sand it, if necessary, and then remove the sanding dust.

Working conditions

The temperature of the air, substrate and product when using it should be within the range from +5°C to +25°C. A temperature lower or higher than the optimal has a negative influence on the application and binding processes, this on final properties of the product. In particular, the product should be protected from freezing and direct sun during first
48 hours after application. The general rules of construction art should be observed during work. No foreign admixtures can be added to the mortar, and only pure water can be used for diluting.

Working time

working time approx. 3 hours after adding water

Instructions for use

Strew powder slowly while stirring in cool, clean water until a smooth mass is formed. Let the mix mature for approx. 10 minutes and then remix gently once. The mixture must be used within 3 hours (+20°C). Apply the adhesive to the surface by pressing firmly and comb with a notched applicator an area that can be tiled within 10–15 minutes. Press the tiles firmly onto the surface and tap into position immediately. When laying tiles sized 50x50cm and larger, it is recommended to use the double application method, i.e. applying the glue both to the substrate and to the underside of the glued cladding. When tiling outdoor areas, the coverage of tile backs must be 100 %. To make sure you get adequate coverage under the tiles, the trowel should be chosen according to the tile size and the tiling surface. Joining can be carried out at room temperature 1-3 days after laying the tiles. Remove fresh stains with water and a damp cloth. Trying to remove the dried adhesive may cause damage to the surface of glazed tiles. Suitable for correcting minor irregularities on the substrate prior to tiling. For corrections of several millimetres, we recommend Kiilto wall plasters and floor levelling compounds.
