Tips for effective cleaning and disinfection in industrial premises

Careful maintenance cleaning is especially important when disinfection is necessary to ensure safety in the premises. In general, alcohol-based and peracetic acid-based products are most effective in destroying various viruses, such as Covid-19. We have compiled a short list of things that should be taken into account when cleaning industrial premises.

1: basic cleaning

The cleanliness of industrial premises is important not only for overall pleasantness and safety, but also to prevent viral infections. Regular washing in industrial premises also makes disinfection more effective. In areas in which a person with a viral infection or who is suspected of having a viral infection has been present, careful cleaning with a weakly alkaline all-purpose cleaner should first be carried out. A good choice is Kiilto Vieno, or Kiilto Telimax, which is particularly suitable for water-washable floors. Cleaning should be carried out by starting from the cleanest areas and progressing to the dirtiest areas. It is recommended to use single-use products or products designed for short-term use, such as Prima microfibre cloths. A good choice for mopping floors is the Click’M C Slide mop, which has excellent mechanical properties, thanks to its rubbing fibres. Click’M C is easy and simple to use. It is also safe and hygienic, as the mop is attached to the frame and removed by one’s foot.

2: disinfection of surfaces

When disinfecting after cleaning, special attention should be paid to workstations, control rooms and other areas where there are many surfaces that people come into physical contact with. An effective disinfectant against the coronavirus, which has a protective protein shell, is hypochlorite-based Kiilto Pluschlor. Other effective disinfectants are Kiilto Desichlor and Kiilto Easydes Spray. Check the recommended dosage of the product to be used for special disinfection on the product manufacturer’s website.

3: disinfection of larger areas

Alcohol-based ETA 700 and peracetic acid-based F 268 Airol S are the most effective disinfectants for destroying viruses. F 268 Airol S, 1,0% is a good disinfectant for larger areas. Surfaces can be disinfected by wiping them with a cloth moistened with detergent, or by applying the detergent directly to the surfaces with a suitable application device. A Dosatron dispensing pump fitted with a spray nozzle is the easiest way to disinfect large areas and surfaces.

4: ensuring safety

During cleaning, attention should be paid to one’s own safety. It is essential to wear protective gloves. Gloves should be either thoroughly washed and dried after use or replaced with new gloves. Workwear and shoes must be easy to wash. If an infected person has been present in the area being cleaned, a waterproof long-sleeved protective jacket or apron should be worn.

Towels, waste and contaminated disposable cleaning and disinfection equipment should be immediately put in a separate rubbish bag, which is then tied closed and put in the waste container.

5: personal hygiene

When removing gloves and other protective equipment, avoid touching the outer surfaces. After removing protective wear, the hands and forearms must be thoroughly washed with warm water and soap, such as Erisan Soap. The World Health Organization also recommends the use of ethanol-based hand rubs. Disinfectants that are effective against the coronavirus and other viruses that have a protein shell include Erisan Antiseptic Hand Rub, Käsidesi and Erisan Etasept.
