Isocyanates are now a cause of chemical safety concerns. They are classified as hazardous substances and can cause sensitisation.

Their applications and handling methods are a major factor in deciding how users should protect themselves from such hazards. Some knowledge is required in order to use isocyanates safely - to protect yourself, observe a few rules of thumb.

  1. Remember to ensure effective and appropriate ventilation.
  2. Protect your skin and eyes from spatters.
  3. Employer: If you are unsure about exposure levels in the workplace, measure them!

Kiilto uses MDI as a hardener in polyurethane products and HDI as a hardener in 2-component parquet lacquers.

We provide training and will be delighted to help you with any issues related to the safe use of isocyanates. Contact productsafety(at)kiilto.com.
