Things to note when installing wallpaper
Always install wallpaper according to the manufacturer’s instructions. A label with installation instructions is supplied with each roll. Ensure that each roll carries the same batch number, as production batches may have minor differences in hue. Bear in mind that in patterned wallpaper, the pattern can be either straight match or offset match. Straight match means that the pattern repeats at even intervals in a roll, whereas in offset match paper, every other sheet features different matching.
Check the straightness of the sheets after each corner.
Ensure the straightness of the first sheet by using a spirit level to draw a line about 55 cm from the corner, provided that the sheet width is approximately 53 cm. Check the straightness of the sheets after each corner.
Depending on the wallpaper type, spread the plaster or adhesive either on the back surface of the sheet and let it seep in or roll it directly on the wall. Press the wallpaper into place and buff it with a trowel or brush to ensure a secure bind. Immediately wipe off any excess plaster or glue that may come out of the seams. Trim the top and bottom edges of the sheet with a utility knife right after installing the sheet.
