Throughout its history Kiilto has invested strongly on R&D. Today Kiilto R&D-unit employs ca. 20 % of the whole company personnel: chemists, engineers, technicians and laboratory workers who are specialized in different chemical fields and technologies and who have the latest knowhow in the field. In 2011 Kiilto R&D unit has four specialists with a doctoral degree.
The aim of Kiilto R&D is to manufacture a comprehensive range of high-tech quality products without compromising environmental and user safety. All products manufactured at Kiilto base on Kiilto's own in-house R&D work. To ensure sustained innovativeness and renewal capacity, Kiilto has established a specific indicator that is monitored on a yearly basis: 20 % of Kiilto's annual sales must come from new products - in recent years this target has been easily reached.
Kiilto's R&D-unit works in close cooperation with the customer throughout the whole development process. Customer's wishes and needs, the application in question, manufacturing techniques and materials, not forgetting environmental and safety aspects, set the starting point for each project. R&D staff works hard to find the most optimal raw material composition, and the product undergoes numerous laboratory and field tests. Continuous development in manufacturing techniques, new materials and new environmental requirements set new challenges for the adhesive industry and the relating industries.
